More info
The Traxxas Rustler 2WD HD w/USB-C is a 1/10 scale stadium truck. It is Ready-To-Race® and has a 2WD driveline. With a 7-cell battery, it reaches 35+ mph. Skill level is 1, so it suits beginners.
Body and chassis
The body is a clipless stadium truck body with a smooth appearance and no body posts or clips. It is pre-painted, with applied decals. The shape is aggressive and aerodynamic, and it carries a rear wing.
Body reinforcements prevent pull-through damage. The body holds tight for intense action and still comes off quickly and easily. The chassis is a tough fiber-composite monocoque design with a wide, low-profile layout for increased stability.
Motor and speed control
A Titan® 12T 550 high-speed brushed motor powers the truck. The motor has an internal cooling fan and an oversized armature for big torque and increased power handling. Operation is virtually maintenance-free.
The speed control is the Waterproof XL-5 ESC with low-voltage detection. This high-performance brushed ESC has an innovative design and runs forward and reverse. The ESC offers three drive profiles. Sport Mode gives forward, brake and reverse. Race Mode gives forward and brake only. Training Mode™ gives 50% forward, brake and 50% reverse, and it is patented.
The ESC has Traxxas EZ-Set® one-button setup. It works with both LiPo and NiMH batteries, with two-stage detection.
Transmission and driveline
The transmission is the Magnum 272™, which is brushless-ready and has metal gears. A planetary gear differential with a steel ring gear sits in the driveline. The internal gear ratio is 2.72, with a final drive of 10.17. Gear pitch is 48 pitch.
A Torque-Control™ slipper clutch system is fitted. The sealed gearbox protects the transmission with a beefed up motor guard. An external gear cover gives easy clutch access. Heavy-duty telescoping U-joint driveshafts and yokes carry the drive to the wheels.
Radio and steering
The radio system is the TQ™ 2.4 GHz 2-channel radio. The ergonomic transmitter has an internal antenna. In the truck, a Traxxas 6519 3-channel micro receiver adds fail-safe security. A sealed watertight receiver box keeps the receiver dry.
Steering comes from the Traxxas 2056, a high-torque waterproof servo. A spring-loaded servo saver helps protect against impacts.
Suspension, wheels and tires
Extreme heavy-duty parts are installed: strengthened caster blocks, axle carriers and steering blocks, plus HD suspension arms. Durable solid camber links eliminate the need for adjustment. Captured rod ends won't pop off.
The shocks are fully adjustable oil-filled Ultra Shocks™ with X-ring technology. White powder-coated springs sit on them. The rear tires are pre-glued Alias® step-pin tires. The front tires are ribbed and carry performance foam inserts. The wheels are 2.8" black RXT™ six-spoke wheels. The truck also has precision hex hardware.
Battery compartment
The battery compartment has easy access. It measures 166 mm x 47.5 mm x 28 mm. The compartment accepts NiMH 6 and 7-cell flat packs and hump packs. It also accepts 2-cell LiPo batteries.
