The Traxxas Slash Modified BL-2s is a 1/10-scale oval racer built on the Slash platform. It comes Ready-To-Race® with rear-wheel drive and a speed rating of 35+. Traxxas lists it as skill level 1, which suits beginners.
The body is a clipless dirt oval design with a smooth appearance and no body posts or clips. It holds tight for intense action and comes off quickly and easily. Reinforcements in the body help prevent pull-through damage. The body also features a roll cage with a molded driver figure and a full-width molded rear wing. Tough tube-style bumpers protect the front and rear.
The chassis is low-CG, with a modular composite tub design. A secure latch holds the battery down, and side nerf bars add impact resistance.
Extreme heavy duty upgrade parts are installed: strengthened C-hubs, axle carriers and steering blocks, plus extreme heavy duty driveshafts. The suspension uses heavy duty arms and 4 mm adjustable steel turnbuckles. Captured links won’t pop off.
The shocks are aluminum, PTFE-coated GTR units with titanium nitride coated shafts. They hold 70% more oil than standard Ultra Shocks. The shocks also have threaded bodies with adjustable spring collars.
A chassis-mounted 2075 digital high-torque waterproof servo steers the truck through a dual bellcrank design with integrated servo saver.
The wheels are graphite gray "steelie" dirt oval wheels, with a 2.2" outer diameter and a 3" inner diameter. Licensed Hoosier® Angle Block racing tires mount on them. Wide tread blocks give consistent and predictable performance. The model also uses rubber-sealed ball bearings and precision hex hardware.
The Magnum 272R™ transmission has a heavy-duty low-CG case and a thick 3.2 mm aluminum motor plate. Case supported bearings, a fixed gear mesh and high-strength steel gears work inside it.
The differential is a sealed, hardened steel bevel type with limited slip. Hardened steel resists wear better than softer alloys, and the differential is easy to access. Internal gear ratio is 9.10:1, and gear pitch is 48 pitch. The driveline also has a Torque Control™ slipper clutch.
The motor is the BL-2s 3300 Kv, a sensorless brushless type. Its design is low-maintenance, with efficient ball bearings and an integrated cooling fan.
At 7.51 ounces (213 g), it is 3.15 inches (80 mm) long and 1.42 inches (36 mm) in diameter. The shaft size is 3 mm. A Traxxas Quick Connect Motor Plug connects it.
The BL-2s Electronic Speed Control is a waterproof brushless ESC with forward and reverse. Its case measures 1.53″ (39 mm) x 2.31″ (59 mm) x 1.21″ (31 mm). It weighs 3.07 ounces (87 g). An accessory cooling fan can be added to the heat sink. The motor side uses the same Traxxas Quick Connect Motor Plug, and the battery side uses a Traxxas High-Current Connector.

The radio is a TQ™ 2.4 GHz 2-channel system. Its ergonomic transmitter has an internal antenna. The receiver is a Traxxas 6519 3-channel micro unit with fail-safe security.
The assembled model measures:
NiMH packs of 6-7 cells (7.2 to 8.4 volts) or LiPo packs of 2 cells (7.4 volts) work with the speed control. The battery compartment measures 165 mm X 50 mm X 23 mm, 25 mm.
