Brushless power system
The Velineon® Brushless Motor is a 4-pole, 2000 Kv, sensorless motor. It weighs 14.32 oz (406 g), measures 2.97 inches (76 mm) long and is 1.65 inches (42 mm) in diameter. The motor shaft is 5 mm, and the connectors are Traxxas 6.5 mm bullet connectors. A finned can provides better heat dissipation.
The speed control is the VXL-6s™ Waterproof Electronic Speed Control, a brushless unit. Its case measures 2.28” (58 mm) x 2.83” (72 mm) x 1.81” (46 mm). The unit weighs 7.30 oz (207 g). It has 6.5 mm bullet motor connectors and Traxxas High-Current Connectors for the battery. The speed control is 6s LiPo compatible and has an integrated cooling fan. It offers real-time telemetry via Traxxas Link™ and has 3-LED status indicators. Powered accessory ports, 10-gauge silicone wire and integrated protection circuits are also part of the unit.
A Fixed-Mesh Motor Cradle supports the entire motor length. It reduces flex for longer gear life.
Radio system and stability management
Radio control is handled by the TQi™ 2.4 GHz High Output Radio System, which is Traxxas Link™ enabled. Its transmitter is a TQi 2-channel unit with a programmable Multi-Function knob. The receiver is a TSM® 2.4 GHz, 5-channel micro model with fail-safe security and integrated telemetry ports.
Traxxas Stability Management (TSM)® improves straight line acceleration and braking on low-traction surfaces. It never dulls the throttle or slows the truck. From the transmitter, you can adjust it from off to 100% assistance.
The radio automatically stores and loads settings for up to 30 Traxxas Link-enabled models. Just switch on and drive, as “model selection” is not required. Steering and throttle percentage, sensitivity and end points are all adjustable.
Driveline and chassis
Power reaches the wheels through a full-time shaft-driven 4-wheel drive system with a single speed transmission. Differentials are sealed, hardened steel bevel, limited slip units. They are filled with silicone fluid and use large module ring and pinion gears. The internal gear ratio is 11.38:1, and the gear pitch is 1.0 metric pitch.
A Torque-Biasing Center Drive absorbs shocks and distributes power, and it has an aluminum housing. The truck has a steel pinion and spur gear plus a heavy-duty Cush Drive™. Steel-Core hybrid telescoping driveshafts are paired with a splined aluminum center driveshaft.
The truck has a Modular Low-CG Composite Chassis. Its extended modular design interlocks with the front and rear bulkheads. The chassis absorbs and distributes impact energy and has molded-in hex reinforcements on flat surfaces. Components are easy to service and access. The driveline is sealed in the chassis to keep out dirt and grit.
Battery compartment
The large battery compartment measures 181 mm x 56 mm x 45 mm. A secure snap-lock battery door closes it. The compartment accepts a single 6700 mAh 4-cell LiPo battery or dual 5000 mAh 3s LiPo batteries. Batteries sit protected deep in the chassis, and the retention is more secure than conventional retention systems.
Steering
The steering servo is the 2090 digital high-torque waterproof servo. It is a large-scale, high-output servo that delivers 285 oz-in of torque. Its transit speed is 0.18 sec, and a triangulated mounting system fully supports the case. Steering also uses heavy-duty double-shear bellcranks.
Suspension and shocks
The truck has heavy duty double-shear suspension arms, and all critical suspension points have double shear strength. A tough composite formula resists impact damage, even in cold weather. The suspension is engineered to optimize suspension travel and steering angles. C-hub and steering block geometry maximizes steering angle. The suspension also has steel pivot balls and fixed high-strength camber and toe links. Steel upper and lower tie bars complete the setup.
GT-Maxx® Shocks have a machined aluminum threaded body and extra-large bore and capacity. A large-diameter damper shaft and a lower seal cartridge with dual X-rings are also fitted. The upper spring retainer is adjustable, and the lower spring perches are bolted on. Shock caps are plastic and have pivot balls.
Body and protection
The body is clipless, which eliminates body posts and clips. Installation and removal are quick and secure. Managed airflow improves high-speed stability. The body has a rigid internal frame, additional nerf bar side support and molded reinforcements for tear-through protection.
The truck has heavy duty energy absorbing front and rear bumpers. Lower front and rear skids provide impact and abrasion resistance. Integrated nerf bars provide side impact resistance. An adjustable wheelie bar has an integrated carry handle.
Wheels and tires
Wheels are tough dual-profile units with a keyed 17 mm hex receptor. The tires are large 5.3″ Maxx SC belted tires with 1-piece foam inserts. Tire expansion is limited for game-changing performance. Wheels and tires are pre-glued and ready for action.
Before you buy
The truck reaches 70+ mph with dual 3s LiPo batteries and an optional pinion gear. Both are sold separately.
