The Traxxas Mini Maxx® BL-2s is a Monster Truck in Mini scale. Out of the box, it is Ready-to-Race®. The truck reaches a top speed of 30+ mph. Skill level is 1, which suits beginners.
A Traxxas iD battery comes in the box. It is a high-capacity 2-cell LiPo pack rated 7.4 volts and 3500 mAh for extended run time. A 2-amp USB-C LiPo balance charger with iD also comes in the box. iD technology provides faster, safer charging.
The truck is controlled by a TQ 2.4 GHz, 2-channel radio system. The transmitter is full-size. It offers all-day comfort with precise long-range control.
The truck runs on the BL-2s™ Electronic Speed Control, a waterproof, fwd/rev brushless ESC. Three programmable drive profiles let you set the truck up for different drivers. Sport Mode gives forward, brake and reverse. Race Mode gives forward and brake only. Training Mode™ gives 50% forward, brake and 50% reverse.
The ESC has Traxxas EZ-Set® one-button setup and built-in two-stage low-voltage detection. It also has two-stage thermal shutdown protection. The ESC has an auxiliary fan port, and its heat sink accepts accessory cooling fan (3340).
The ESC case measures 1.53″ (39 mm) x 2.31″ (59 mm) x 1.21″ (31 mm). The ESC weighs 3.07 ounces (87 g). Voltage is 6 volts, and the battery connector is a Traxxas High-Current Connector.
The motor is a BL-2s™ sensorless brushless electric motor rated 3300 Kv. It has an integrated cooling fan, a low-maintenance design and efficient ball bearings. The motor weighs 7.51 ounces (213 g). Its length is 3.15 inches (80 mm), and its diameter is 1.42 inches (36 mm). The shaft size is 3 mm, and the connector is a Traxxas Quick Connect Motor Plug.
Power reaches all four wheels through a full-time shaft-driven 4WD driveline. The driveshafts are 1/10 scale, extreme-duty telescoping units. The truck uses direct drive with no transmission. A fixed gear mesh system and large 32-pitch gears carry the power. The truck also has sealed planetary steel-gear differentials, and steel gears hold up better than softer alloys. The overall drive ratio is 9.20:1.
The chassis is a modular composite design with interlocking front and rear bulkheads. It absorbs and distributes impact energy. Components are easy to service and access. The driveline is sealed in the chassis to keep out dirt.
The battery sits protected deep in the chassis. The battery hold-down pivots for easy access and is more secure than conventional retention systems. The battery compartment measures 113 mm L x 41 mm W x 22 mm H.
A Clipless Body Mount System makes installation and removal of the body quick and easy. The body mount has nerf bar channels for side body support. The body is reinforced for extra protection against tearing.
The steering servo is a 1/10 scale 2056 waterproof high-torque servo. Steering also has heavy-duty double-shear bellcranks and a cam-style servo saver.
Heavy duty, double-shear suspension arms and a dual wishbone design make up the suspension. The outer suspension components are extra tough. The truck rides on Oil-Filled Ultra Shocks™, which are full size 1/10 scale. They have large oil capacity and are easy to tune.
Tough energy absorbing bumpers take the knocks. The truck has a high-angle front skid plate and rugged interlocking skid plates, which protect the underside. A smooth undertray eliminates snags. Integrated nerf bars provide side impact resistance.
Dual-profile black multi-spoke wheels carry 4″ Sledgehammer® tires with foam inserts. The tires have a wide treadblock design and multiple layers of biting edges. The hex hardware has a rust-resistant black oxide coating. The truck also has sealed ball bearings.
