More info
Traxxas Stampede 2WD HD w/USB-C is a 1/10 scale monster truck on the Stampede platform. It is Ready-to-Race® and has a 2WD driveline. Speed reaches 30+ mph with the 7-cell battery. The maker rates its skill level 1, which suits beginners.
Body and chassis
The truck has a clipless monster truck body with a smooth appearance and no body posts or clips. The body holds tight for intense action and comes off quickly and easily. Reinforcements in the body prevent pull-through damage. Tough LED-ready bumpers sit at the front and rear.
The chassis is a tough fiber-composite monocoque. Center ground clearance is 4 inches (102 mm), tall enough to drive over obstacles. Extreme heavy-duty parts are installed, including strengthened caster blocks, axle carriers, and steering blocks. HD suspension arms are fitted as well.
Motor
The truck runs on the Titan® 12T 550 high-speed brushed motor. An internal cooling fan is built in, and an oversized armature delivers big torque and increased power handling. Operation is virtually maintenance-free. The motor weighs 8.47 ounces (240 g).
The motor measures 3.07 inches (78 mm) overall, with a 2.25 inches (57 mm) can length. Diameter is 1.41 inches (36 mm). The shaft size is 3 mm, and the connector type is Bullet.
Speed control and drive modes
The motor is controlled by the High-Performance Waterproof XL-5™ Electronic Speed Control, which runs forward and reverse. Its waterproof design is innovative. The brushed ESC works with LiPo and NiMH batteries and has two-stage low-voltage detection. It weighs 2.44 ounces (69 g).
Case size is 1.23 inches (31 mm) by 2.18 inches (55 mm) by 1.04 inches (26 mm). Motor connectors are Bullet, battery connectors are the Traxxas High-Current Connector, and the power wire is 14 gauge. The ESC uses Traxxas EZ-Set® one-button setup. The drive profiles are:
- Sport Mode gives forward, brake and reverse
- Race Mode gives forward and brake
- Training Mode™ gives 50% forward, brake and 50% reverse, and it is patented
Transmission, driveline and steering
Power passes through the Magnum 272™ metal-gear transmission, which is brushless-ready. The differential is a planetary gear design with a steel ring gear. Internal gear ratio is 2.72 (final drive: 12.34), and gear pitch is 48 pitch. A Torque-Control™ slipper clutch system is fitted.
The sealed gearbox protects the transmission, with a beefed up motor guard. An external gear cover gives easy clutch access. Heavy-duty telescoping U-joint driveshafts and yokes carry drive to the wheels. Steering comes from the high-torque waterproof Traxxas 2056 steering servo. A spring-loaded servo saver helps protect against impacts.
Suspension, wheels and tires
Solid camber links eliminate the need for adjustment, and captured rod ends won't pop off. The truck uses fully adjustable oil-filled Ultra Shocks™ with X-ring technology, paired with white powder-coated springs.
Pre-glued high-profile Terra Groove shaved monster truck tires sit on 2.2" monster truck wheels. Precision Hex Hardware is used on the truck.
Radio system and battery compartment
Control comes from the TQ™ 2.4 GHz 2-channel radio system. The ergonomic transmitter has an internal antenna. In the truck, a Traxxas 6519 3-channel micro receiver adds fail-safe security. A sealed watertight receiver box keeps the receiver dry.
The battery compartment has easy access. It accepts NiMH 6 and 7-cell flat packs and hump packs, as well as 2-cell LiPo batteries. The compartment measures 164 mm X 46 mm X 26 mm.
Size and weight
The truck weighs 4.08 pounds (1.85 kg). It is 16.25 inches (413 mm) long and 9.5 inches (241 mm) tall, with a 10.63 inches (270 mm) wheelbase. Width and track each measure 12.75 inches (324 mm).
