The Traxxas Mini XRT VXL-3s is a Ready-to-Race® (RTR) monster truck. Built on the Mini XRT platform, it is Mini scale and suits beginners at skill level 1. Run the included 2-cell LiPo battery and it reaches 40+ mph. The optional 3-cell LiPo battery, sold separately, takes it to 55+ mph.
The speed control is the Velineon® VXL-3s™, a waterproof electronic unit that is brushless and supports forward and reverse. Three programmable drive profiles let you choose how the throttle behaves. Sport Mode gives forward, brake and reverse. Race Mode gives forward and brake only. Training Mode™ gives 50% forward, brake and 50% reverse.
The ESC carries a large aluminum heat sink with an installed cooling fan. Setup is one-button with Traxxas EZ-Set®. The ESC has built-in two-stage low-voltage detection.
The motor is the Velineon® 3500, a sensorless brushless electric motor rated at 3500 Kv. It uses ultra high-temperature sintered neodymium magnets and a precision-balanced rotor. The design is low-maintenance. The motor also has efficient high-speed ball bearings and a brilliant blue-anodized finish.
The radio is the TQi 2.4 GHz High Output 2-Channel Radio System, Traxxas Link Enabled. It has a programmable multi-function knob. Steering and throttle percentage, sensitivity and end points are all adjustable.
The receiver is a 5-channel micro receiver (6533) with fail-safe security. It sits in a patented waterproof receiver box with an easy-access plug.
The truck uses Traxxas Stability Management (TSM)®. TSM improves straight line acceleration and braking on low-traction surfaces. It maintains steering composure to allow throttle-on powerslides. TSM never dulls throttle or slows the truck. You adjust it from off to 100% assistance from the transmitter.
The truck has full-time shaft-driven 4-wheel drive. The whole driveline is 1/10 scale, including extreme-duty telescoping driveshafts. It is direct drive with no transmission. The center differential is sealed. Sealed planetary steel-gear differentials sit at the front and rear.
The overall drive ratio is 7.36:1. Large 32-pitch gears and a fixed gear mesh system complete the driveline.
The modular composite chassis has interlocking front and rear bulkheads. It absorbs and distributes impact energy. The driveline is sealed in the chassis to keep out dirt. Components are easy to service and access.
The battery is protected deep in the chassis. Its hold-down pivots for easy battery access and is more secure than conventional retention systems.
Steering comes from the 1/10 scale 2075X waterproof high-torque, metal-gear servo. The steering also has heavy-duty double-shear bellcranks and a cam-operated servo saver.
The suspension uses heavy duty, double-shear suspension arms in a dual wishbone design. The outer suspension components are extra tough. Oil-Filled Ultra Shocks™ are full size 1/10 scale shocks with a large oil capacity. They are easy to tune.
The truck rolls on new graphite gray mini XRT wheels and Gravix® tires with foam inserts. The tires give excellent traction on or off the road. A directional tread pattern makes for quieter running, and a thick center carcass resists ballooning.
A clipless body mounting system makes body installation and removal quick and easy. Functional high-pressure dual air intakes channel cooling air over the ESC and motor. Nerf bar channels give side body support. The body is reinforced for extra protection against tearing and has a functional rear wing.
The front bumper is tough and energy absorbing. A high-angle front skid plate joins rugged interlocking skid plates, and a smooth undertray eliminates snags. Integrated nerf bars add side impact resistance. The truck uses hex hardware with a rust-resistant black oxide coating and sealed ball bearings.
The box holds a high-capacity LiPo battery rated at 7.4 volts and 3500 mAh for extended run time. A 2-amp USB-C charger comes with it, and iD® technology gives faster, safer charging.
