More info
Kyosho Mini-Z RWD MR-04 readyset MAZDA SAVANNA RX-7 (SA22C) "1979 DAYTONA CAR No.77" is a ready-to-run R/C car. The box holds one 1979 Mazda Savanna RX-7 MR-04 Mini-Z RTR. Right out of the box, it gives you the full experience of high-performance R/C car racing.
The No. 7 car won the GTU class at the 1979 Daytona 24 Hours. No.77 then finished 2nd to secure Mazda's remarkable 1-2 debut. Bold red stripes highlight the sharp body lines, in striking contrast to the green of the No. 7 car.
Who it suits
The easier control of the MR-04 makes it a good first R/C car. The small scale of the Mini-Z Racer suits people just becoming familiar with R/C cars. You can drive this authentic R/C car indoors. High performance comes straight from the standard setup.
The MR-04 chassis
The latest high-performance MR-04 chassis is now the standard Mini-Z RWD model. A renewed RWD chassis sits at the core of this Readyset. Previous Readyset packages used the 3rd generation MR-03 chassis. The new RWD Readyset has the 4th generation MR-04 chassis, first released in 2023.
The MR-04 is a major evolution from the previous MR-03 model. It keeps some basic elements of the MR-03 design. In the top-of-the-line EVO2 debut model, the MR-04 demonstrated its remodeled steering design with blistering speed and excellent handling. The new MR-04 retains the best aspects of the MR-03, and its lower center of gravity delivers significant performance improvements.
Mounting the batteries lower than in the MR-03 lowers the chassis center of gravity, improving cornering stability and straight-line handling. This Readyset has the same standard MR-04 chassis as other high-end MR-04 models.
The chassis is factory assembled, and the R/C system comes mounted on it. The car uses a user-friendly 130-class brushed motor. A geared differential delivers smooth cornering.
Suspension, steering and bearings
The car has a new front suspension (No: MZ719) that is compatible with zero-offset wheels. New front knuckles with integrated kingpins reduce scrub by 1.5mm on each side compared to the MR-03. Control becomes sharper and more linear. The change to 3mm inner diameter ball bearings also reduces rotational resistance.
The front suspension dynamically aligns the camber angle with movement of the upper arm, maintaining optimal tire contact during cornering. A revised caster angle also delivers improved steering response.
At the rear, a coil spring damper cushions shocks from the road surface and improves driving stability. The rear suspension can also be upgraded to an optional oil-filled shock absorber. A flexible T-bar suspension plate holds the entire rear pod, including the motor and rear axle. The plate's flexibility produces an excellent suspension effect. Optional parts for this plate are also available in FRP and carbon.
All axles are equipped with low rotational resistance ball bearings as standard. The same size ball bearings are used for both front and rear for spare parts efficiency.
Body and tuning
The car features a high-quality painted body with decals applied, finished to display model standard. The body is pre-painted, complete with markings. The body is made of hard plastic.
For a non-standard body, the front tread adjustment parts set changes the front tread (vehicle width) to match. Rear tread can be changed by changing the wheel offset.
The car is compatible with a wide range of Mini-Z Racer optional parts. You can tune up for elite-level performance and enjoy enhancing your model. An optional gyro unit can be fitted for even easier control. Gyro sensitivity is adjusted using the volume on the chassis.
Transmitter and radio system
The Syncro KT-531P transmitter has a steering wheel that mimics the steering wheel of a real car. The transmitter also has a pistol-grip throttle (speed control). The Syncro KT-531P is an ultra reliable multi-function transmitter. It adjusts the neutral position of steering and throttle with trims, as well as steering angle with dual rate adjustment.
Training mode runs at a reduced vehicle speed and is the default setting. The R/C system is Syncro KT-531P, with the receiver, servos and speed control installed in the car.
