Kyosho's Mini-Z RWD MR-04 readyset Sauber-Mercedes Gruppe-C-Rennsportwagen C9, Nr.61, LM1988 is an authentic electric small scale R/C car. You can drive it indoors. The small scale of the Mini-Z Racer suits people just becoming familiar with R/C cars. The easier control of the MR-04 makes it an ideal introduction to R/C cars. The body is a special version, chrome-plated, of the Sauber C9, developed as a Mercedes-Benz works machine. The Sauber C9 later went on to dominate the World Sports Prototype Championship (WSPC).
The car is built around a renewed 2-wheel drive chassis. It uses the 4th generation MR-04 chassis, first released in 2023, in place of the 3rd generation MR-03 chassis of previous Readyset packages. The same standard MR-04 chassis runs in other high-end MR-04 models. The car features the latest high-performance MR-04 chassis and a user-friendly 130-class brushed motor.
The MR-04 is a major evolution from the previous MR-03 model. It retains some basic elements of the MR-03 design. In the top-of-the-line EVO2 debut model, the new MR-04 showed a lower center of gravity and a remodeled steering design, with blistering speed and excellent handling. The lower center of gravity delivers significant performance improvements, while the best aspects of the MR-03 are retained. The R/C system is mounted on the chassis.
A geared differential delivers smooth cornering. All axles run on low rotational resistance ball bearings as standard. Front and rear use the same size ball bearings for spare parts efficiency.
Suspension Parts 2.0 is newly adopted and optimizes the caster angle. The result is both agility and stability, even in high-speed driving. The revised caster angle also improves steering response. The front suspension aligns the camber angle dynamically with movement of the upper arm, keeping optimal tire contact during cornering.
Batteries sit lower than on the MR-03, lowering the chassis center of gravity for better cornering stability and straight-line handling. The rear suspension uses a coil spring damper to cushion shocks from the road surface and improve driving stability. The rear suspension can also be upgraded to an optional oil-filled shock absorber.
The T-bar rear suspension plate holds the entire rear pod, including the motor and rear axle. The plate's flexibility produces an excellent suspension effect. Optional parts are also available in FRP and carbon. Rear tread can be changed by changing the wheel offset.
The Syncro KT-531P transmitter has a steering wheel that mimics the steering wheel of a real car. A pistol-grip throttle controls speed. Trims adjust the neutral position of steering and throttle, and dual rate adjustment sets the steering angle. The transmitter can also run in training mode with a reduced vehicle speed, and training mode is the default setting.
The car is compatible with a wide range of Mini-Z Racer optional parts for tuning and enhancing the model. High-performance comes straight from the standard setup, and you can tune up for elite-level performance. An optional gyro unit (MZW711) can be fitted for even easier control. Gyro sensitivity is adjusted with the volume on the chassis.

The car and the transmitter each need four AAA-size alkaline batteries or four Ni-MH batteries. They are not included in the box, so you supply them yourself.
The separately sold LED light unit set (No.MZW429R) cannot be installed on this car. The car is compatible with all bodies for the Mini-Z Racer series. For any other body, the motor case and differential gear assembly suitable for that body are required separately.
