This is the Kyosho MINI-Z RWD MR-04 readyset CHEVROLET® CORVETTE® C8.R Chrome / Yellow Kyosho America 20th Anniversary. A 1/28 scale, mini-size electric on-road car, this Chevy is built on the MINI-Z RWD MR-04 platform. It is a special limited-edition model. Right out of the box, it gives the full experience of high-performance R/C car racing.
It is an authentic small scale R/C car, and its size is ideal for driving indoors. The easier control of the MR-04 makes it an ideal introduction for people just becoming familiar with R/C cars. America's Chevrolet based this racing model on its high-performance road car. The racing version has a midship mounted 5.5 liter V8 engine producing 500 horsepower, plus reduced weight and aero parts. That version delivered performance far in excess of the commercial road model.
At its core is a renewed 2-wheel drive (2WD) chassis, the latest high-performance MR-04. The 4th generation MR-04 was first released in 2023 and is a major evolution from the 3rd generation MR-03 chassis. Previous Readyset packages used the MR-03. Other high-end MR-04 models share the same standard MR-04 chassis. The MR-04 chassis is now the standard MINI-Z RWD model. Chassis MR-04W-MM is mounted with the R/C system. The car has a user-friendly 130-class brushed motor. Drive is forward, brake and reverse.
While retaining the best aspects of the MR-03, the MR-04's lower center of gravity delivers significant performance improvements. The batteries are mounted lower than in the MR-03, lowering the center of gravity of the entire chassis. Cornering stability and straight-line handling improve. The MR-04 keeps some basic elements of the MR-03 design but has a remodeled steering design. In the top-of-the-line EVO2 debut model, the MR-04 demonstrated blistering speed and excellent handling. High-performance comes straight from the standard setup.
Sharper, more linear control comes from front knuckles with integrated kingpins. They reduce scrub by 1.5mm on each side compared to the MR-03. The change to 3mm inner diameter ball bearings also reduces rotational resistance. Front suspension dynamically aligns the camber angle with movement of the upper arm to maintain optimal tire contact during cornering. A revised caster angle improves steering response. The car has independent suspension, and its shock type is friction shock.
The rear suspension uses a coil spring damper to cushion shocks from the road surface and improve driving stability. It can be upgraded to an optional oil-filled shock absorber. The T-bar rear suspension plate holds the entire rear pod, including the motor and rear axle. Its flexibility produces excellent suspension effect. Optional parts are also available in FRP and carbon. A geared differential delivers smooth cornering. All axles have low rotational resistance ball bearings as standard, for a full ball bearing specification. The same size ball bearings are used front and rear for spare parts efficiency.
Decals are applied to the pre-painted body, which is complete with markings. The body has a dynamic maneuverability display model finish. Authentic R/C experience reaches a higher level with the updated MR-04 chassis.
A 2.4GHz Perfex KT-531P transmitter, an ultra reliable multi-function pistol grip model, is supplied with the car. The transmitter has a steering wheel that mimics a real car's steering wheel, plus a pistol-grip throttle (speed control). Trims adjust the neutral position of steering and throttle. Dual rate adjustment sets the steering angle. The transmitter is set to training mode by default, which runs at a reduced vehicle speed. Receiver, servos and a speed control are installed in the car.
An optional gyro unit can be fitted for even easier control. Gyro sensitivity is adjusted using the volume on the chassis. A wide range of MINI-Z Racer optional parts fit the car, so you can enjoy tuning and enhancing your model. You can tune up for elite-level performance. The car is compatible with all bodies for the MINI-Z racer series. Rear tread can be changed by changing the wheel offset.

The car needs 4 x AAA alkaline or Ni-MH batteries. Another 4 x AAA alkaline or Ni-MH batteries are needed for the transmitter. Neither set of batteries is in the box. A charger is sold separately. Fitting another MINI-Z Racer body also needs the motor case and differential gear assembly suitable for that body, which are required separately.
