Kyosho brings the Chevrolet Corvette C8.R to 1/28 scale in this MINI-Z RWD Readyset. It wears a Chrome/Yellow livery marking Kyosho America's 20th anniversary. This Readyset is built around the 4th generation MR-04 chassis. Earlier Readyset packages used the 3rd generation MR-03. Kyosho first released the MR-04 in 2023. It kept some basic elements of the MR-03 design. The top-of-the-line EVO2 model debuted its lower center of gravity and remodeled steering. That combination delivered serious speed and excellent handling. A lower center of gravity carries over here, giving the car noticeably easier control. That makes it a strong introduction to R/C driving. The chassis carries its R/C system beneath a body finished to display-model standard.
A user-friendly 130-class brushed motor pairs with the dependable Syncro KT-531P pistol-grip transmitter. New front knuckles with integrated kingpins reduce scrub by 1.5mm on each side versus the MR-03. That change delivers sharper, more linear steering response. Switching to 3mm inner diameter ball bearings also cuts rotational resistance. Up front, the suspension dynamically aligns camber angle with upper arm movement. This keeps tires planted through corners. A revised caster angle sharpens steering feel further.
Battery placement sits lower in the MR-04 than it did in the MR-03. That drop lowers the chassis's overall center of gravity. The result is better cornering stability and straighter tracking. Out back, a coil spring damper absorbs bumps from the road surface. It keeps the car settled through rough sections. Drivers can later upgrade it to an optional oil-filled shock absorber. The T-bar rear suspension plate holds the entire rear pod, including the motor and rear axle. Its flexibility produces genuinely effective suspension motion. Optional FRP and carbon versions are available for further tuning. Every axle runs on low rotational resistance ball bearings as standard equipment. Front and rear use the same bearing size. A geared differential rounds things out, delivering smooth cornering behavior throughout.
The Syncro KT-531P transmitter is a multi-function unit built for reliability. It features a steering wheel shaped like a real car's wheel. A pistol-grip throttle handles speed control. Trims dial in the neutral position of steering and throttle. Steering angle adjusts through dual rate settings. Training mode reduces vehicle speed for newer drivers and ships as the default setting. Drivers can fit an optional gyro unit for even easier control. Gyro sensitivity adjusts using a volume knob on the chassis. Standard setup already delivers solid performance. The Corvette C8.R body is pre-painted and finished to display-model standard, with decals already applied. This chassis works with all bodies made for the MINI-Z racer series. Swapping to a different body calls for a separate motor case and differential gear assembly matched to that body. A front tread adjustment set lets you match front tread width when switching to a non-standard body. Rear tread adjusts by changing the wheel offset instead.
Power comes from four AAA alkaline or rechargeable Ni-MH batteries in the car. The transmitter also runs on four AAA alkaline or Ni-MH batteries. A charger is sold separately for anyone choosing the rechargeable route. This Readyset pairs the Corvette C8.R body with the updated MR-04 platform for Kyosho America's 20th anniversary.
