More info

Kyosho's MINI-Z RWD readyset puts the 1988 Sauber-Mercedes C9 No.62 LM on your track at 1/28 scale. This factory-built model is ready-to-run right out of the box. It's finished with the same circuit-board graphics and AEG sponsorship marks that made the real car famous. The MINI-Z RWD platform uses a rear-wheel-drive layout built for smooth, controllable handling. It pairs with the Syncro KT-531P transmitter.

Kyosho first launched the MINI-Z Racer in 2013. It runs on just 8 AAA-size batteries, so anyone can enjoy the look and performance of R/C cars. The RWD series renews that MR-03 Sports concept to be more user-friendly and welcoming to new drivers. Widely popular body styles arrive in highly detailed sets, building a genuinely realistic model lineup.

Transmitter and Control Feel

The readyset comes with a Perfex KT-531P 2.4GHz transmitter in the box. Its stylish housing packs in steering trim, throttle trim, and dual rate adjustment for steering angle. You can also control the flash speed of optional LEDs from the same transmitter. A sponge-wrapped steering wheel grip keeps your hand comfortable for precise control.

By default, Training Mode is switched on. It limits the car's top speed so new drivers can learn the handling before opening it up. The Syncro KT-531P system ties together the radio, receiver, servos, and speed control that drive the car.

Chassis, Body & Handling

The Sauber-Mercedes C9 body arrives finished to display-model standard, fully factory-painted and highly detailed. Its looks match the performance, reliability, and durability built into the MR-03 chassis underneath.

A newly developed control program on the redesigned circuit board gives the car linear handling and noticeably improved steering feel. You can sharpen that further by adding the optional gyro unit, sold separately as No.MZW446 or No.MZW711. The chassis accepts that gyro unit directly, and gyro effect volume can be adjusted right on the chassis. If you add the optional KT-432PT transmitter instead, that adjustment moves to the transmitter itself. This RWD chassis is built on the proven MR-03 platform, so existing MR-03 parts can be installed to boost handling. Up front, VCS suspension geometry optimizes camber angle as the suspension moves through its stroke.

  • Independent suspension all around, with full ball-bearing construction — 7 bearings that used to be an optional upgrade
  • Ready-to-run ReadySet completion level with gear differentials and forward/brake/reverse drive control
  • 2WD, rear-wheel-drive layout powered by a brushed electric motor
  • Friction-type shocks on this Mini-scale, on-road chassis

Before You Buy

A few things to line up before this car hits the track. The battery and charger are both sold separately, so budget for those before race day.

You'll need four AAA-size alkaline or Ni-MH batteries for the chassis, and four more AAA-size alkaline batteries for the transmitter. Neither set is included in the box.

The Syncro KT-531P transmitter runs on FHSS 2.4GHz. It will not pair with older ASF, MHS, or FHS 2.4GHz radio gear.

This chassis works with any MINI-Z Racer body style. Swapping bodies means buying a matching motor case and differential gear assembly separately.

The same applies to tread and wheelbase changes. You can go narrow or wide by swapping the steering tie rods on the front upper and lower plates. Wheelbase can be adjusted too, to match a different body style. Both changes require parts that are sold separately.
