The Kyosho MINI-Z RWD readyset brings the 1988 Sauber-Mercedes C9 No.62 to 1/28 scale. This Le Mans racer sponsored by AEG carried a body famous for its circuit-board graphics. Kyosho reproduces that livery on a body finished to display-model standard.
Power comes from a Rear-Wheel Drive platform designed for smooth, predictable handling. The car pairs with the Syncro KT-531P transmitter for control. Running the chassis and transmitter together takes 8 AAA-size batteries total. Battery and charger are both sold separately.
Kyosho first launched the MINI-Z Racer Sports MR-03 concept in 2013. The RWD series reworks that platform to be more approachable for new drivers. Widely recognized body styles get highly detailed treatment across the lineup. This Sauber-Mercedes C9 set pairs chassis, body, and radio system as one package.
The Syncro KT-531P transmitter has a stylish design with steering trim and throttle trim. Dual rate adjustment lets you fine-tune the steering angle response. The transmitter also controls the flashing speed of optional LEDs. A Training Mode feature limits car speed for easier learning. It ships set to Training Mode by default. This transmitter uses FHSS 2.4GHz and is not compatible with ASF, MHS, or FHS 2.4GHz systems.
A newly designed circuit board runs an updated control program inside the chassis. Kyosho says it delivers noticeably improved steering feel and more linear handling. Drivers chasing finer control can add the optional gyro unit, sold separately as No.MZW446/MZW711. Gyro effect volume adjusts right on the chassis. Running the optional KT-432PT transmitter instead lets you adjust those gyro settings from the transmitter itself.
This RWD platform is built on the proven MR-03 chassis. Existing MR-03 parts and the optional gyro unit can be installed to enhance driving control. Front suspension incorporates VCS to optimize camber angle through suspension stroke. Full ball bearing specifications equip the chassis with seven bearings built in. That full bearing setup used to be an optional upgrade on earlier models.
Tread width sets narrow or wide by swapping the steering tie rods. These sit on the front lower and upper plates. Wheelbase can also be adjusted to suit different body styles. Both changes call for separately purchased parts. This chassis works with all MINI-Z Racer body styles. A motor case and diff gear assembly matched to the body are needed and sold separately.
This readyset needs 4 AAA-size alkaline or Ni-MH batteries for the chassis. It also needs 4 AAA-size alkaline batteries for the transmitter. Battery packs and any charger are sold separately. Adding the optional gyro unit or swapping onto a different MINI-Z Racer body takes extra parts. The gyro (No.MZW446/MZW711), motor case, and diff gear assembly all sell separately from this set.
