More info
The Traxxas Aluminum Differential Spool gives your axle solid-spool performance by replacing the internal differential gears with a single machined unit. Built from 6061-T6 blue-anodized aluminum, this drop-in spool locks the axle to send equal torque to both wheels, which helps traction in loose or technical terrain and stabilizes power through tight corners.
Key Features
- 6061-T6 aluminum construction — machined for strength and resistance to wear.
- Blue-anodized finish — provides corrosion resistance and an easy visual upgrade.
- Drop-in replacement — installs in place of differential gears with no major modifications.
- Locks the axle — converts differential action to a solid spool for equal power delivery to both wheels.
- Improved traction — helps when climbing, crawling, or powering out of ruts where one wheel would otherwise spin.
Why Choose This Spool
If you want predictable, locked-axle behavior for off-road runs or tight-course driving, the Traxxas Aluminum Differential Spool is a durable, low-effort upgrade. The 6061-T6 aluminum construction and blue-anodized finish give a long-lasting part that both performs and looks the part on a solid-axle setup.

Great for Stock Motors
This ring gear is great if you stick with the stock motor, but when I swapped to the Dynamite brushless esc combo with the stock pinion on my Teton, it stripped the gear in like 2 days. I ended up taking the stock steel Teton gear, grinding out the center, and replacing the plastic gear with the steel one. It's a bit bigger than the plastic gear that comes with the spool. I glued it to the spool, it works 'okay', but I think using a two-stage metal bond like JB Weld on the stock metal gearset might be better.I really wish they made this spool with a metal gear option. The plastic isn't that tough without a slipper clutch.Overall, it's a decent spool but not as tough as I expected. I've got the same spool and motor in my LaTrax Rally with a 60 tooth main gear and 14 tooth pinion, and it's awesome with this spool. But if you up the torque, the plastic spool will prob strip.
Okay for Brushed Motors
It's alright for a low powered brushed motor, but if you're using a brushless, the plastic teeth wear out fast. Would be better if the ring gear was made of metal since there's no metal replacement.
