More info
The Kyosho 1969 Chevy® El Camino® SS 396® Cortez Silver is a 1:10 scale radio controlled electric powered car. It rides on the FAZER Mk2 FZ02L Series touring chassis, a new design with shaft drive and full-time 4WD. As a readyset, the Fazer Mk2 1969 Chevy El Camino comes fully assembled and is ready to run out of the box.
Body and looks
The “Ultra Scale Body” replicates the fine details of the actual body of the car. The body is pre-painted polycarbonate. It arrives completely finished, with the color scheme and decals applied. The car wears America's famous Chevrolet badge. The body fuses strength and sophisticated style in the 3rd generation of this distinctive coupe utility pickup truck. Vintage Touring Car (VTC) tires and Rostyle type wheels match the vintage car style. Front and rear light buckets are compatible with the separately sold 97054 LED light unit series. Installing the LED light unit transforms the body into one full of real car feeling.
Chassis and construction
The completely new chassis has a low center of gravity and a simple, functional design. An integrated gearbox optimizes the torsional rigidity of the main chassis. Its nylon material reduces weight while improving impact resistance. Each key component is reinforced, and the design has no upper deck. A simplified design with fewer parts has improved maintenance efficiency and reduced weight. Core strength and rigidity are increased through new materials and ribbing and stiffeners on front and rear. The symmetrical chassis design gives excellent front-rear balance through the suspension with responsive control, irrespective of power source.
The chassis uses fewer screws and parts in fewer varieties, and frequently used screws share the same size. Most are flat head screws that a 2.0mm hex wrench removes for easy disassembly. Interchangeable left-right hub carriers on both front and rear optimize spare parts utilization and improve maintenance efficiency. A belt mounting battery compartment allows various battery types to be used. Performance can be further enhanced by installing various optional parts.
Drivetrain, suspension and electronics
The car is equipped with a slipper clutch and 2-bevel grease-filled gear differentials on front and rear. Full ball bearings that reduce drive loss are equipped throughout the drive system. Large size dog bones and cup joints realize superior reliability and durability. The sealed differential and transmission deliver reliable performance, even on dusty parking lot surfaces.
The car has newly designed oil shocks, an evolutionary step up from previous models. Optimal front-rear geometry and balance deliver both light handling and precise control. Handling factors such as bump steer and scrub radius are optimized on the front suspension. A simple ball-connected steering knuckle promises reliable control movement. Servos, a receiver and a speed control are installed, with a KS202W waterproof steering servo handling the steering.
The standard spur and pinion gear setting is 68T and 32T. Nine pinion gear settings from 29T to 37T can be used to produce a wide range of gear ratio settings. The new fixed gear mesh motor mount has holes for use with each different pinion gear. Mount the motor directly to the holes that match your pinion gear. No gear mesh adjustment is necessary.
The car offers a choice of two offset brake disc wheel hubs (0mm, +5mm) with dummy calipers for visual styling. They provide compatibility with 190mm and 200mm width body styles. Replacing some parts, sold separately, adjusts the wheelbase to 260mm. That gives compatibility with other 1/10 scale body styles, in addition to the included body.
