More info

This Kyosho 1957 Chevy® Bel Air Coupe in Tropical Turquoise is a 1:10 scale, radio controlled, electric powered 4WD readyset. It is built on the FAZER Mk2 FZ02L platform, a new design touring chassis (FZ02) with full-time shaft drive. The readyset package comes fully assembled. The box holds one complete car for on-road driving.

Body and styling

The newly designed chassis carries a realistic racing car body. The Ultra Scale Body replicates the fine details of the actual body of the car. The body is factory-assembled and completely finished, with its color scheme and decals applied. The Chevy Bel Air 2-door sports coupe was named after the luxury residential area of Los Angeles. Its body form is imposing, with large tail fins. Models sold from 1953 to 1957 are the most popular among the first generation Bel Air series.

Vintage Touring Car (VTC) tires and Rostyle type wheels match the vintage car style. The front and rear light buckets are compatible with the separately sold 97054 LED light unit series. Installing an LED light unit transforms it into a body full of real car feeling.

Chassis and suspension

Kyosho took its standard touring car chassis and gave it a full model makeover. The makeover has evolved performance to a new level. A simplified design with fewer parts improves maintenance efficiency and reduces weight. Core strength and rigidity are increased through new materials and ribbing and stiffeners on front and rear. The symmetrical chassis design gives excellent front-rear balance through the suspension, with responsive control, irrespective of power source. High durability and impact resistance let drivers unleash the full potential of the chassis.

An integrated gearbox optimizes torsional rigidity of the main chassis. The nylon material reduces weight while improving impact resistance. Each key component is reinforced, and the design has no upper deck. Its simple, functional design gives the completely new chassis a low center of gravity. The design uses a reduced number and variety of screws and parts. Frequently used screws are consolidated into the same size. Most screws are flat head screws that a 2.0mm hex wrench removes for easy disassembly.

Handling factors such as bump steer and scrub radius are optimized on the front suspension. The simple ball-connected steering knuckle promises reliable control movement. Hub carriers are interchangeable left to right and front to rear, which optimizes spare parts utilization and improves maintenance efficiency. Optimal front-rear geometry and balance deliver both light handling and precise control. The shocks are oil-filled, coil-over units, newly designed as an evolutionary step up from previous models. The suspension is independent and the steering is 2WS. A belt mounting battery compartment lets you use various battery types.

Drivetrain and motor

The car features a slipper clutch. The car is equipped with 2-bevel, grease-filled gear differentials on front and rear. Large size dog bones and cup joints give superior reliability and durability. Full ball bearings that reduce drive loss are used throughout the drive system. The sealed differential and transmission deliver reliable performance, even on dusty parking lot surfaces.

The standard spur and pinion gear setting is 68T and 32T. Nine pinion gear settings from 29T to 37T produce a wide range of gear ratio settings. The new fixed gear mesh motor mount has holes for each pinion gear. The motor is mounted directly to the hole locations corresponding to the pinion gear. No gear mesh adjustment is necessary.

The motor is a brushed, 540-size G14L. The drive type is forward/brake/reverse, and the gear ratio is 6.54:1.

Radio system

The R/C system is Syncro KT-231P+. The car has a receiver and servos, and it features a KS202W waterproof steering servo.

Fit and upgrades

Choose between two offset brake disc wheel hubs, 0mm and +5mm, for 190mm and 200mm width body styles. The hubs have dummy calipers for visual styling. Replacing some parts (sold separately) adjusts the wheelbase to 260mm, for compatibility with other 1/10 scale body styles. Performance can be further enhanced by installing various optional parts.
