More info

This Kyosho 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Black Jade is a 1:10 scale radio controlled, electric powered 4WD readyset car. It is built on the FAZER Mk2 FZ02L platform. The car comes fully assembled, so it is ready to run out of the box.

Its completed chassis has the R/C radio installed. The factory assembled body comes complete with its color scheme. It recreates the admired American muscle car with an ultra-scale body Plus. Experience powerful driving with this Mustang.

The body and the real car behind it

Only 859 units of the real Boss 429 were produced to obtain homologation for racing competition. The real car’s hood carried a large air scoop. That scoop channeled air to the 375 horsepower 429 cubic inch (7.0L) V8 engine. The fenders displayed the “BOSS 429” logo.

The car faithfully reproduces the body, light bezels, grille, bumpers, and mirrors. The highly detailed “ULTRA SCALE BODY” can be described as a “running display model”. Its realistic vehicle proportions and meticulous craftsmanship reach down to the finest details. The body has evolved into the “ULTRA SCALE BODY Plus”. That version features a clipless body mounting system that eliminates the need for body clips.

Newly designed concealed body mounts mean the fixing posts and pins do not protrude externally. This allows a more realistic appearance of the exquisite ultra-scale body. The body mount uses the same body mounting system as the FAZER D2. The body incorporates injection-molded parts in various areas. Chrome-plated bumpers and finely detailed components enhance its overall realism. The taillights use injection-molded parts, resulting in a sharper and more refined finish. The light lenses use clear injection-molded parts with detailed lens cuts.

The car is equipped with Vintage Touring Car tires and low-style wheels. Their design perfectly matches vintage cars. For the pure enjoyment of R/C car driving, a beautifully reproduced body on the FAZER series chassis can’t be beaten.

Chassis and construction

Kyosho gave its standard touring car chassis a full model makeover, evolving performance to a new level. The completely new chassis has a low center of gravity and a simple, functional design. An integrated gearbox optimizes the torsional rigidity of the main chassis. The chassis is plastic. The nylon material reduces weight while improving impact resistance. Each key component has been reinforced in this simple design without an upper deck.

A simplified design with fewer parts has improved maintenance efficiency and reduced weight. Core strength and rigidity have increased through new materials and ribbing and stiffeners on front and rear. High durability and impact resistance let drivers unleash the full potential of the chassis. The symmetrical chassis design gives excellent front-rear balance through the suspension, with responsive control, irrespective of power source.

The car uses fewer screws and parts, and frequently used screws share the same size. Most screws are flat head screws that you can remove with a 2.0mm hex wrench for easy disassembly. Each part uses button screws with hexagonal holes, so reliable tightening torque can be applied. Maintenance is possible with even fewer tools. Interchangeable left-right hub carriers on both front and rear optimize spare parts utilization and improve maintenance efficiency.

Drivetrain, suspension and electronics

The car has a slipper clutch and gear differentials at the front and rear. Full ball bearings throughout the drive system reduce drive loss. The full-time touring chassis has shaft drive that allows anyone to enjoy driving. The sealed differential and transmission deliver reliable performance, even on dusty parking lot surfaces. The car has forward, brake and reverse drive.

The independent suspension uses oil shocks, which mark an evolutionary step up from previous models. The oil shock is newly designed. Optimal front-rear geometry and balance deliver both light handling and precise control. On the front suspension, handling factors such as bump steer and scrub radius are optimized. A simple ball-connected steering knuckle promises reliable control movement.

Choose between two offset brake disc wheel hubs (0mm, +5mm) with dummy calipers for visual styling. They provide compatibility with 190mm and 200mm body widths. The car features a KS202W waterproof steering servo. It is equipped with a receiver, servos and speed control.

The motor is a brushed electric G14L in size 540. The new fixed gear mesh motor mount has mounting holes for each pinion gear. Mount the motor directly at the hole that matches your pinion gear, so troublesome backlash adjustment is unnecessary. It supports 9 pinion gear settings from 29T to 37T for a wide range of gear ratio settings. The standard spur and pinion gear setting is 68T and 32T.
